ACDP 2020 best Visionary Agriculture government project

 The Agriculture Cluster Development Project (ACDP) was awarded the best Visionary Agriculture Government project of the year 2020 at the annual Visionaries of Uganda Award ceremonies. This was done in recognition of their outstanding contribution towards helping Uganda achieve Middle income goal and Vision 2040.

The Awards were presided over by H.E Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi the Vice President of Uganda under the theme “Celebrating Dynamic Leadership and strengthening of Fundamentals of the Economy to realize Uganda’s Vision 2040”

ACDP declared effective on January 23, 2017, is a partnership project of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and the World Bank, financed by the International Development Assistance (IDA) of the World Bank. Its main objective is to raise on-farm productivity, production, and marketable volumes of selected agricultural commodities like maize, beans, rice, cassava and coffee, spanning over 57 districts.

The project targets to reach 450,000 households and to date 270,000 farmers have been enrolled into the e-Voucher system. According to the project design, a farmer is supposed to participate in the subsidy program for three seasons. Government contributes 67% in the first season while the farmer contributes 33%; in the second season the government  contributes 50 % and the farmer 50 and in the third season the government contributes 33% while the government contributes 67%.

Visionaries of Uganda has been organizing the annual Visionaries of Uganda Awards Ceremony for the past seven years to high light achievements and progress of the government institutions, organizations and the private sector. The Awards are meant to encourage quality products, service delivery and positive competition which act as a bridge to socio-economic development.

The Awards boost the Profiles of organizations whose innovative efforts have impacted on the lives of millions of people and increased social economic transformation of Uganda. They are also meant to encourage quality products, service and positive competition which are the bedrock of socio-economic development.
